I have always enjoyed creating new dishes with fresh ingredients. My most memorable experience and challenge in the kitchen relates to the years spent developing a little gourmet breakfast restaurant called Wickerleigh’s Porch. This tiny spot served as an outlet for scrumptious pastries prepared at “On the Rise Bakery” which was off the beaten path. To compliment the mouth-watering pastries I prepared eggs Benedict, omelets, fresh squeezed orange juice and fruit compotes, all in the tiniest kitchen. A screen door, white wicker furniture, hand-painted rugs on a concrete floor and white wainscoting completed the porch theme. I will be sharing some of these special recipes on this page.
Roxie Kelley and Shelly Reeves Smith have published five cookbooks that have easily become my favorites. They are the kind of cookbooks that one always turns to when in need of inspiration and short on time. The recipes are made with easy-to-find foods and brimming with yummy taste treats. They are lavishly illustrated and filled with stimulating thoughts to be enjoyed as “tabeltop” books as well. A link is provided to further review these cookbooks by highlighting the cover picture above.
